Allen Greiner sang in the Trojan Choir and Madrigals, served as president of the German Club, was a King of Courts attendant, and played football. Allen attended Brown University, receiving a BA in Anthropology and the KU Medical Center earning his medical degree and a master’s in public health. He worked at the University of Kansas Medical Center in family medicine and community health, preventative medicine and public health, and the department of Health Policy and Management. He was medical officer of the Wyandotte County Unified Government Health Department and initiated the JayDoc free clinic in Wyandotte County run by medical students. He provided care for American Indians and conducted research on reservations in Kansas. Allen received millons of dollars in research-based grants. In 2020 he was awarded the Nason Family Professorship and received the Chancellor’s Excellence in Teaching Annual Fellowship Award, the University’s highest teaching honor. Allen mentored younger colleagues and improved health care for his patients and for those in more rural areas of Kansas.
